The start page is the most finished part of this codebase — custom groups, recommended slots, weather, and the search box all read from one reactive store, so the desktop category bar and the mobile drawer can never drift apart.
That sounds minor until you try bolting a drawer onto a page that keeps category state in two places. I have seen that break at every breakpoint. Here it is a single tree: switching a category in the drawer updates the bar instantly.
Practical check: test the localStorage → cloud handoff before you trust it. Create 2 groups and 3 links while logged out, then log in on the same profile and confirm the merge. That handoff is exactly where most clones of this design lose data.
Behind /admin there are 12 working panels, and the two that decide whether the directory stays useful are the submission queue and the dead-link inspector.
While testing the submission flow I found the crawler pulls TDK and the favicon at submit time, not at approval time. A site that changes its title between submission and approval keeps stale metadata until you re-fetch it manually from the review panel.
